The Cersaie 2024 fair, held in Bologna, Italy, took place from 23 to 27 September 2024. This event is one of the most important in the ceramic and bathroom furniture sector worldwide, attracting 95,000 visitors, almost half of them from abroad.
As for the participation of Spanish companies, 72 companies from the ceramic sector in Spain, members of ASCER (Spanish Association of Ceramic Tile and Paving Manufacturers), took part in the fair, consolidating their strong presence in international markets, since three out of four tiles produced in Spain are exported. Among the most prominent Spanish brands that participated are Porcelanite, Apavisa and Tau Cerámica.
At Cersaie 2024, the main trends in materials, finishes, textures and styles stood out for their emphasis on sustainability and the search for innovative solutions that are both aesthetic and functional. These are the key details that will define interior design in the coming months:
Respect for the environment has been one of the fundamental pillars. Many manufacturers have presented products that integrate recycled materials and are designed to reduce environmental impact. The focus on the circular economy translates into solutions that reuse industrial and ceramic waste, minimising waste. This also extends to the use of new technologies for energy saving and decarbonisation
In terms of finishes, matte finishes continue to gain popularity, with surfaces that seek to imitate natural materials such as stone, wood and cement. However, technological advances allow these finishes to offer better performance than the original natural materials, such as stain resistance and ease of maintenance. The matte finish also helps to create more relaxed and welcoming environments.
Textures have had a special role. Surfaces with reliefs and tactile finishes, which imitate the roughness of natural stone or the softness of velvet, have become a trend. These textures add depth and character to spaces, inviting touch and generating pleasant sensations for the user. Large-format tiles with textures that replicate marble, limestone or terrazzo are designed to give an organic and authentic look to environments.
The use of large-format tiles continues to increase. These pieces offer a cleaner and more continuous aesthetic, by reducing the number of visible joints. In addition to being functional, these tiles provide a sophisticated and modern touch, perfect for open and minimalist spaces. Larger sizes are also preferred for wall and facade cladding
As for the colour palette, neutral and earthy tones dominate the collections, with a range that goes from white and beige to browns and greys. These colours inspire calm and connection with nature, and combine perfectly with the stone and wood finishes that continue to be in high demand. The use of soft colours allows you to create warm and relaxing atmospheres, ideal for any space in the home
The predominant style remains minimalist, where less is more. Clean and tidy interiors are complemented by natural materials and sustainable elements. This approach seeks to highlight simplicity, the essential and functionality in the design of spaces. Ceramics play a fundamental role in these environments due to their versatility and adaptability.
In short, Cersaie 2024 has set the course towards a design where nature, sustainability and tactile sensation are the protagonists. Ceramic tiles are reinvented to offer more than aesthetics: they are a key component in creating modern, sustainable and high-quality technical spaces.
