From Azulejos Solá we want to teach you some tips for laying and maintaining porcelain stoneware. 1. The first step is, once the porcelain stoneware floor has been received, carefully review it. Check that the quality, tones and gauges of the material received are the same as those chosen in the tile store. This must be reviewed before starting to place it, because once the work has started, it makes it difficult for us to claim and change the model. In addition to the work and cost of removing the floor to replace it. 2. It is necessary to use appropriate mortars, which comply with current regulations. Traditional gripping materials do not guarantee sufficient adherence for porcelain stoneware tiles, especially considering the size of current floors. The nomenclature of the laying mortar must be c1 or c2, so that it complies with the regulations that guarantee correct placement. In large porcelain stoneware formats, double gluing is recommended, spreading the adhesive mortar over the entire surface of the piece. 3. Today there are many tools that facilitate the laying and leveling of porcelain stoneware tiles, such as wedges, crosspieces or leveling. These materials are highly recommended, since for a low cost we obtain a greater possibility of having a well placed and aligned floor. 4. The use of expansion joints is recommended, with at least a 1.5mm separation. Filling the joints with specific material, once the adhesive mortar is dry and the pavement is well established. 5. For laying rectangular porcelain stoneware flooring, it is important not to lock the next piece to more than 20%. 6. Once the laying of our floor is finished, we must do a thorough cleaning to be completely satisfied. The gripping and grouting materials adhere a lot to porcelain stoneware and it will be necessary to do the final cleaning of the work with a technical and specific product, such as Deterdek, from Fila Solutions. 7. From the first cleaning, for the maintenance of our porcelain stoneware, we will only use hot water and our usual household detergent. We should not use aggressive products that contain acids, such as salfumán.
