What are the best bathroom tiles?

Dec. 29, 2020

If you want to renovate your bathroom , one of the questions you will undoubtedly ask yourself is which are the best bathroom tiles. Should we use porcelain tiles or non-porcelain tiles? Polished or non-slip? How big should the tiles be and which ones would go well with your bathroom?

Before reading on, we invite you to take a walk through our bathroom tiles section, where you can find all the models we have and it will help you to know what type of tile we are referring to.

Best tiles to lay in the bathroom

The first thing is to be clear about the difference between the different types of tiles . Not all are the same, nor do they have the same durability.

Keep in mind that both bathrooms and kitchens are usually spaces where there is much more humidity than in other rooms. Therefore, you should use different tiles than in the rest of the house, both on the wall and on the floor, if you do not want your walls to become ugly over time.

That said, the tiles that withstand humidity best are porcelain tiles , which are the most resistant and the ones that absorb the least water. Therefore, they are the type of tiles that we recommend to install on the floor.

As for wall cladding for bathrooms , you have several options, stoneware tiles, which are lighter and cheaper, and porcelain tiles, which can give a more elegant and attractive touch to your bathroom.

You should also take into account that there are anti-slip tiles , which help you avoid slipping, although it is up to you if you want this type of tiles because you need greater security. Polished tiles can also be a good option.

What size to choose the tiles?

The size of the tiles will depend on your tastes and the budget you have to renovate your bathroom. Think that large-format tiles are the ones that give a feeling of greater openness and are more enveloping, while smaller-size tiles are more suitable to convey a cozy air.

Ideally, if your bathroom is small, you should use medium-size tiles for the walls and large-size for the floor.

Traditional tile models have a measurement of 15 x 15 cm, although today you can find large tiles, up to 120 on one of its sides. The larger the size, the fewer tiles you need, so sometimes large-format tile can be the most economical option if your bathroom is large.
